Recovery Voices Vote!

Our voices. One ballot at a time.

There are over 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery. And another 22 million Americans still struggling. 1 in 3 hourseholds are directly impacted by addiction. Yet, our voices are often silenced and ignored. That changes now!

The Recovery Advocacy Project and partners are on a mission to register people in recovery to vote. Together, we can show our country that our voices matter and that our communities can mobilize.

People in recovery, their families, and allies of the recovery community will no longer be silent.

From your local school board to the Senate, it’s important to vote in every election. Thanks for taking the first step. Take just a few minutes and complete the form below to get started and to make sure your voice is heard!

Every state (with the exception of North Dakota) requires you to register in order to vote on Election Day.

Thirty-nine states + Washington DC allow for online voter registration. You can check to see if your state offers online voter registration here and if online voter registration is an option in your state you can register to vote using our tool at the bottom of this page.

If your state does not allow for online voter registration or you want to pick up an application in person, you can most likely find voter registration applications at any or all of the following local locations.

  • Department of Motor Vehicles Offices
  • Post Offices
  • Public Libraries
  • Community Centers
  • Non Profit Organizations
  • Government Offices
  • Town or City Halls
  • County Elections Offices (For a list of county elections offices by state go here )

If you have moved within the same state, had a name change, or wish to change party affiliation, you will need to submit those changes before you vote.

If you moved to another state you will need to register in that state with your new address. If your state has online registration, use that to make the changes. You can also make these changes by mail using the National Voter Registration Form.

If you are unsure if you are registered to vote you can check your Voting Status using our tool here.

If you have registered to vote today, let us be the first to congratulate you as a new voter and encourage you to take the Vote Recovery Pledge!
