Many people are unsure if they are eligible to vote, especially if an individual has a criminal record.

You Can Vote

  • Are an American Citizen
  • Meet your state’s residency requirements (You can be homeless and still meet this requirement)
  • Are 18 years old on or before Election Day (You can register to vote before you turn 18 if you are 18 by Election Day)

Who Can't Vote?

  • Non-citizen, including permanent legal residents
  • Some people with felony convictions. Rules will vary by state.
  • Some people who are mentally incapacitated. Rules will vary by state.
